Introduction
Guys, wake up! In short three months, you will be at the beach, shirtless. While it’s good to love yourself no matter how you look, it’s still great to look good. Three months is just about right to do something for your body, and your health. So don’t hesitate, hit the gym right after finishing with this article! Here are three tips to get you going:
Tip #1: Start eating more veggies
Springtime means that mother nature gives us some fresh fruits and veggies. Now is the time to start buying seasonal, not only because it tastes better, but also because it is much healthier, with fewer chemicals, and more budget-friendly.
Why veggies? Vegetables (at least non-starchy, green ones) have a low glycemic index, which means they will never cause blood sugar spikes, which are always followed by cravings for more.
Veggies are also a source of fibers, something a modern, fast-food based diet lacks. Fiber stays in the digestive tract longer, slowly releasing energy. Also, it is very dense and fills you up quickly. Veggies are also low-calorie, which makes them a perfect snack, so choose a salad instead of something sweet, and you will notice your waist sizing down in no time.
Tip #2: Hit the weights!
Reducing your calories, and starting to eat more vegetables is not enough. Yes, you will lose weight, but if you want a toned body, you will have to pump some iron.
Weights go really well with dieting, as strength training prevents muscle breakdown. When you are in a caloric deficit, your body will start “eating” away its muscles, if you are not using them. Therefore, it is essential to exercise. You don’t want to lose those hard-earned muscles; they are very “valuable” to your organism and health.
By limiting your calories and working out at the same time, you are guaranteed to lose weight, but most of it will be body fat. That is exactly what you want. Once you lower your body fat, you will actually end up looking bigger, as your muscles will take over, and you will start developing that V-tapper.
Also, working out with weights spends calories, which will speed up your weight loss. Furthermore, repairing the muscles that get damage during workouts also takes energy, putting your body to work even when you rest, so more calories burned.
Tip #3: Go outside
While you can’t exactly bench and deadlift out in the open, at least take your cardio outdoors. People, you were stuck in your house the whole winter, now it’s time to get out in the sunshine.
Pick activities like jogging or cycling, and do them somewhere in nature. Running alongside a river, or in a local park or forest is not only good for your cardiovascular fitness but also your mental well-being. There is something about nature that gives us peace, and it’s opposite to sitting in a cubicle 9 hours per day.
Conclusion
Three months might seem like long, but before you blink, summer will be here. Unless you start acting now, you will add another entry to your failed fitness resolutions list.
