Benefits of one on one training vs. small group

In an earlier blog I covered some of the benefits of small group training.  So today I’m going to touch on a few advantages of the option of one on one personal training. Here at Fit and Psyched located at 1177 Clare Ave, Unit #2 near downtown West Palm Beach, my wife, Amy, and I both do group training as well as one on one training. While cost, camaraderie and accountability were some of the benefits of a small group; following are a few reasons for choosing to train on one to one.

  • Flexibility. Maybe not the first reason one would think of when comparing the two different styles. Generally, small groups (in our case that’s usually somewhere between 2-4 people) have a set time due to the simple fact of coordinating the different schedules of clients with comparable levels of training. Training one on one eliminates that factor.
  • Personalized. Connecting with your trainer on an individual basis allows the sessions and overall goals to be 100% specific to your needs. One example of this might be that you are completely new to training. You’re excited that you are taking the steps to a healthier you; but because your level of fitness isn’t the best, it’s going to be a bit before you can go “all out” with a group.
  • Attention. Choosing one on one training gives your trainer the advantage of designing a workout to accommodate your individual needs and fitness level. Shoulder is hurting? Let’s avoid any presses overhead. Knee is acting up? Let’s not do legs today, we can focus more on core. Training for a competition? Let’s zero in on what you specifically need to excel come game day.

Those are just a few reasons in favor of one on one training versus small group training.
