Getting healthy doesn’t have to mean hours of doing cardio on a treadmill. There are a ton of options for getting fit, especially in South Florida! “Fun in the sun” is pretty much our unofficial state motto and studies have shown that getting your daily dose of sun, fresh air, and the great outdoors can contribute to better health and a more positive mindset! To give you some ideas for your next weekend outing, here are four ways to stay fit and have fun in Palm Beach County without feeling like it’s “just another workout.”

“Sea” What Palm Beach Has To Offer

No matter where you are in the Palm Beaches, chances are you are just minutes away from some form of water. Inlets, rivers, coastline… Florida is a treasure trove of water sports. If you’re looking for a great upper body workout, canoeing or kayaking is the perfect go-to and you can easily get a full body workout from paddle-boarding or swimming. Not only are these activities a great form of exercise, connecting with the water is extremely healing. Wallace J. Get Ready To Ride

Let’s ride! One of the most popular trails is The Lake Trail, which gives you the opportunity to take a leisurely ride along the Intracoastal Waterway. While you pedal, you will enjoy a peek through the backyards of Palm Beach’s rich and famous. On the other end of the spectrum, if you want a little bit more adventure, the Pinehurst Mountain Bike Trail will give you a bit of a challenge and one heck of a workout! This path is great for beginners but is definitely the perfect place to push yourself out of your comfort zone. 

Show Me The Green!

Many don’t realize this, but golfing is an incredible form of exercise! Not only is it a full-body workout, it’s also relaxing, an excellent way to have fun in the sun, and burn up to nine-hundred calories! Wondering how it burns so many calories? The average golfer can walk up to four miles on the course and but swinging the clubs can elevate your heart rate to the “light workout” zone. The Palm Beaches are Florida’s Golf Capital! Grab A Friend And Have Fun in The Sun!

Getting healthy is easier (and much more fun) when you do it with a friend. If your friends are furry and four-legged, there are many pet-friendly activities you can do! For example, you can visit one of the few remaining dog beaches in Florida! The Jupiter Dog Beach will give you the opportunity to play fetch on a beautiful 2.5 mile stretch of beach. If you need some more quality time with your human friends, there are several events where you can surround yourself with people who love getting fit as much as you do! Like John Prince Park’s Outdoor Fitness Zone! It’s free and fun. This outdoor playground for adults allows you channel your inner child and enjoy some sunshine and sweat.
